Abington HS Student Starts Petition Against Gendered Graduation Garb

An Abington Senior High School student has started a petition to change the tradition of gendered graduation cap and gown colors for the class of 2022 and beyond. The school usually issues white caps and gowns for girls and maroon for boys. The petition states that the colors discriminate against students who are transgender or nonbinary. It suggests switching to all one color or dividing the colors alphabetically. As of Sunday, March 14th, the Change.org petition has over 1700 signatures.
